Where was Red One filmed? The beach and (almost) all the locations

Combining the energy and style of a Guardians of the Galaxy movie with Christmas classics like Elf, Red One was filmed between Hawaii and Georgia.
Starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, Johnson plays Callum Drift, head of security at the North Pole, who teams up with a bounty hunter (Evans) on a mission to rescue Santa Claus after he is kidnapped.

Directed by Jake Kasdan of the Jumanji film franchise, the movie blends holiday mythology with globe-trotting action in a family-friendly way.
Rounding out the cast are some digital reindeer, J.K. Simmons as Santa Claus, Kiernan Shipka as the winter witch Grýla, and Lucy Liu as Zoe Harlow.

The Red One locations
It's hard to recognize, but the coffee shop at the beginning of the movie was filmed at Morning Brew at SALT in Honolulu, Hawaii.
As Reel News Hawaii reported, the ten-day shoot on Oahu island took place in May 2023.

But - movie magic - when Jack leaves the cafe, he is more than three miles away, on the University of Hawaii campus in the Mānoa Valley.
The building with the columns in the background is Hawai'i Hall, the oldest building on campus, completed in 1912 in colonial style.

The Bilger Hall served as the fictional National Oceanic Geology Administration (NOGA) lab. The gazebo on fire was a film prop.

The Santa Meet-and-Greet scene was filmed at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody, Georgia, part of the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Opened in 1971, the mall features over 150 shops, including department stores like Von Maur, whose sign appears in the movie.

Much of the movie is a mix of CGI and studio work, but the large tower at the North Pole complex seems to have been inspired by Hallgrímskirkja, the iconic church in Reykjavík that has become one of Iceland's most recognizable landmarks.
Jack's son, Dylan, attends a school called Marshall Junior High School. This scene was filmed at the Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School, which opened in 2002 in the Grant Park area of southeast Atlanta.
This beautiful building was designed in 1908 for the former W.F. Slaton School, which closed in 1995.

But what city is Red One set in, New York? This establishing shot of a snow-covered skyline is from Jersey City, New Jersey.
Coming from the east, the lower houses area is the Harsimus Cove neighborhood, with the skyscrapers of The Waterfront and the Powerhouse Arts District beyond.

After the churro scene, Jack drops Dylan off at his mother's house, a beautiful row house on Montag Circle in Atlanta's Inman Park neighborhood.
According to Zillow, this three-bedroom home is fairly new, built in 2007, and has an estimated market value of over a million dollars.

The Wondrous Toys store is actually the Children’s Museum of Atlanta near Centennial Olympic Park.
We don't know about the portal station in the supply closet, but the museum, which opened in 1988, offers interactive exhibits for children aged 0–8.

The spot in Aruba where Callum and Jack come out of the toy store is a candy shop called the Sweet Treat Depot on Commercial Street in Conyers.
Olde Town Conyers is a charming historic district with a small-town feel and beautifully preserved 19th-century architecture where many productions have been filmed, including Sweet Magnolias, The Vampire Diaries, and The Originals.

But as you can see in this image, the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is actually racing towards a house in the real world, as the end of the street and the palm trees were added via CGI.

The driving sequence was filmed near Camp Erdman at Kaena Point, located on the westernmost tip of Oahu Island in Hawaii.
This nature reserve is one of Hawaii's most scenic driving experiences.

Reel News Hawaii also noted that the entrance to the beach resort is a cottage in the Molii Gardens at Kualoa Ranch Fishpond.
The swimming pool was probably filmed elsewhere in Georgia, with the Hawaiian background CGI'd into the scene.

The Red One beach
The Aruba beach scenes were filmed on Secret Island at Kualoa Ranch, also in Hawaii.
This private beach area is accessible only through the ranch and offers stunning views of Kaneohe Bay and Mokoliʻi Island.
Kualoa Ranch is a world-famous film and television location where iconic productions such as Jurassic Park, Jumanji, and Lost have been filmed.

The Christmas market scene was filmed at the magnificent Westview Abbey Mausoleum in Atlanta's Westview Cemetery.
Built in the early 20th century in the Gothic Revival architecture, this hidden gem features a chapel with 27 intricately designed stained-glass windows.

Some scenes in the Krampus' lair were also filmed at Westview Abbey.
This location has been used in several major productions, including Loki and Cobra Kai, but you may remember it as the mansion of a cartel boss in the hit series Ozark.
But where is this building? The Georgia Film Office reported that additional filming took place in Savannah and on Jekyll Island.
