Where was The Old Man filmed? Guide to all the locations

Although much of the series is set in Morocco and Afghanistan, The Old Man was filmed entirely in California.

Returning for the second season, the show follows Dan Chase, played by Jeff Bridges, a former CIA operative and Afghanistan veteran who has been living off the grid for decades.

Chase's quiet life is upended when an assassin tries to kill him, forcing him to go on the run and confront his troubled past.

Based on the novel by Thomas Perry, the series also stars John Lithgow and Alia Shawkat as FBI agents Harold Harper and Angela Adams, and Amy Brenneman as Dan's ally Zoe McDonald.

Season 1 locations

The Old Man house
According to the local press, the series was filmed in the quaint village of Idyllwild in California's San Jacinto Mountains.

The house where Chase was living with his two dogs, Dave and Carol, in a small town in Vermont was likely filmed there.

The Old Man restaurant
The bar where Dan stops is Emma Jean's Holland Burger Cafe in Victorville, a charming spot near the historic Route 66.

Offering a nostalgic dining experience, this café has been featured as a film location numerous times, including in the 2004 movie Kill Bill: Vol. 2.

Frank's Coffee Shop Burbank
The flashback scene with actor Bill Heck was filmed at the famous Frank's Coffee Shop at 916 W Olive Avenue in Burbank.

Now permanently closed, this classic diner was also featured in Mad Men, CSI, and Euphoria.

Pasadena Wayne Manor Batman 1966
Morgan Bote's home in the second episode is a stunning Pasadena mansion boasting ten bedrooms and six bathrooms.

Built in 1928, the house has been featured in countless productions, although it will always be remembered as the Wayne Manor from the 1966 Batman television series.

The Old Man Afghanistan
As set decorator David Smith revealed, the mountain village in Afghanistan was a set built at the Blue Cloud Movie Ranch in Santa Clarita.

Hamzad's veranda and kitchen and the Moroccan dye factory were built on a stage.

City National Bank Building LA
As IMDb reported, the apartment that first appears in the fourth episode is the City National Bank Building at 606 South Olive Street in Downtown Los Angeles.

Millennium Biltmore Hotel Crystal Ballroom
Harper meets lawyer Nina Kruger (played by Rowena King) at the elegant Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.

Opened in 1923, this luxury hotel is a prime example of Beaux-Arts design, with intricate frescoes, marble columns, and crystal chandeliers.

Pictured, the opulent Crystal Ballroom, which has hosted many high-profile events, including early Academy Award banquets.

Faith and Flower Restaurant
The restaurant where Dan (or Henry Dixon) meets Zach is the now permanently closed Faith & Flower Restaurant in the South Park area of LA.

The BLOC garage Sheraton Grand Los Angeles Hotel
The parking at the beginning of the fifth episode was filmed in The BLOC garage at the Sheraton Grand Los Angeles Hotel.

Bamboo Inn Westlake South
The Chinese restaurant is the Bamboo Inn at 2005 West 7th Street in Westlake South.

Anaheim Transportaion Center
The airport is part of Los Angeles International Airport.

The train station in Morocco, pictured, is the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC).

Opened in 2014, this futuristic curved steel structure serves as a major transportation hub in Southern California.

Mark Taper Forum at the Music Center in Los Angeles
It's hard to recognize, but the exterior of the Mark Taper Forum at the Music Center in Los Angeles was transformed into the gorgeous Moroccan café.

Completed in 1967, this circular theater, renowned for hosting innovative and experimental performances, was designed by architect Welton Becket.

The short scene at the Moroccan hotel was filmed in a set built into a 1920s house in Pasadena, likely the same one used as Morgan Bote's home.

Bradbury Estate
Pavolvich’s island mansion in episode six was filmed in a stunning seven-bedroom, 47,000-plus-square-foot home known as the Bradbury Estate.

Perched on a promontory near Bliss Canyon, the property had the ocean digitally added in the background.

Zillow lists this incredible estate, featuring a large infinity-edge pool and a 10-car garage, with an estimated market value of over 23 million dollars.

The Old Man Season 2 locations

The Old Man mountains
In the early episodes of the second season, Chase and Harper search for Emily somewhere in the mountains of Afghanistan.

However, these scenes were filmed in California, with the snow-capped mountains of the rugged Eastern Sierra Nevada as a backdrop.

The Old Man location
The stunning area of rounded, weathered rock formations is the Alabama Hills, located in the Owens Valley near Lone Pine.

Easily accessible via Movie Road, just off U.S. Route 395, the area is a popular stop for travelers exploring the Eastern Sierra.

Known for their otherworldly landscapes, they have served as a location for many films, especially Westerns, and Tarantino's Django Unchained.

Mount Williamson
You might have recognized the profile of Mount Williamson in some of the establishing shots, the second-highest peak in California at 14,379 feet.

These shots may have been filmed from the Owens Valley and possibly along Whitney Portal Road, which offers breathtaking views leading into the high alpine wilderness.

Ridgecote The Old Man
The Ridgecote Police Station is the Chinese American Museum with a lot of CGI.

Housed in the historic Garnier Building, this is the last remaining structure from L.A.'s original Chinatown.

Peddicord  Residence Malibu
The ocean view home in the seventh episode is a house called the Peddicord Residence in Malibu, which has been used as a filming location several times.

Terranea Resort
The Spanish-style mansion in the season finale is the Terranea Resort on California's scenic Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Opened in 2009 on the site of the former Marineland theme park, the complex is inspired by Mediterranean architecture, with terracotta-tiled roofs, stucco walls, and archways.

Dan's house looks like Mindy St. Claire's house in The Good Place, located on Thorton Ranch Road in Westlake Village near Thousand Oaks.

The interior looks like a set and the exterior like a digital image pasted onto a coastal landscape.

Where in Morocco was the scene in that luxurious hotel and terrasse filmed? Episode 6, season 1.

Really appreciate all of this, especially the map links! Okay, this "You might have recognized the profile of Mount Williamson in some of the establishing shots, the second-highest peak in California at 14,379 feet" made me laugh. No one remembers who came in second, and I doubt many Californians even know the name of our second-highest peak! Mount Shasta? Lassen? Baldy? Diablo? Half Dome?
