Set in the fictional town of Shelby Springs, Rebel Ridge was filmed primarily in Leesville and several other locations throughout Louisiana.

The movie follows an ex-Marine who becomes entangled in a web of corruption and violence as he tries to clear his name and find justice.

Aaron Pierre and Don Johnson

The cast is led by Aaron Pierre as skilled ex-marine Terry Richmond and AnnaSophia Robb (yes, spelled that way) as court clerk Summer McBride.

The 1980's TV series Miami Vice star Don Johnson plays the corrupt local police chief, Sandy Burnne.

Shelby Springs
The town of Shelby Springs, Louisiana, was basically filmed in Leesville, a small city in Vernon Parish.

The courthouse is the Vernon Parish Courthouse, a historic building completed in 1910 featuring Classical Revival architecture.

Known for its grand columns and stately facade, the courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Shelby Springs Rebel Ridge
The Tree Birds Ice Cream Parlor was a set built in a vacant storefront across from the courthouse on 3rd Street, also in Leesville.

There was a small community called Shelby Springs in Shelby County, Alabama. In the 19th century, it was a popular health resort known for its natural springs.

Shelby Springs Louisiana
The scene after meeting Summer was filmed on Texas Street, also in downtown Leesville.

The scene in the lower picture where Terry calls his friend to ask for help was filmed in front of the old Merchants and Farmers Bank building on Third Street.

Natalbany River Bridge
The metal truss bridge was filmed on the old 1950s Natalbany River Bridge in Tangipahoa Parish, between Amite City and Independence.

Star Wars actor John Boyega was originally cast in the role of Terry, but left the production for family reasons.

Fort Jackson Louisiana
The ruined Rebel Ridge fort scenes were shot at Fort Jackson, a prominent military fortification during the American Civil War.

Built in the early 19th century, it played a key role in the 1862 Battle of Forts Jackson and St. Philip, which was crucial to the Union's capture of New Orleans.

Today, you can visit this historic site with remnants of its fortifications, now overgrown by vegetation.

Shelby Springs Police Department
But where is the Shelby Springs Police Department? The movie was also filmed in Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, and Washington parishes.
