Where was The Union filmed? Istria, Grand Hotel London, and all the locations

The Union was primarily filmed in London and New Jersey, but the Netlfix action-comedy also features cool locations shot in Italy, Slovenia and Croatia.

The movie follows Mike McKenna (played by Wahlberg), a New Jersey construction worker whose simple life takes a wild turn when his high school sweetheart, Roxanne Hall (played by Halle Berry), reappears after 20 years.

Roxanne, now a secret agent for a covert organization called "The Union," recruits Mike for a dangerous mission in Europe. Joining the lead cast is Mike Colter as Agent Nick Faraday.

The Union locations

Savoia Excelsior Palace
The hotel in the opening sequence in Trieste, Italy, is the Savoia Excelsior Palace.

Built in 1911, this luxury hotel overlooking the Adriatic Sea combines historic grandeur with modern elegance for about $150 (115 GBP) per night.

The Union location
The bridge scene was filmed over the Grand Canal of Trieste, a picturesque waterway in the heart of the city.

Built in the 18th century to allow ships to unload goods directly into the city center, the canal is flanked by historic buildings and charming cafes.

Bayonne New Jersey
The street scenes in Mike's town were filmed in Bayonne, New Jersey.

Located on a peninsula between Newark Bay and New York Harbor, just south of Jersey City, Bayonne is known for its industrial heritage.

Bayonne Bridge
Completed in 1931, the iconic Bayonne Bridge, which connects the city to Staten Island, New York, was once the world's longest steel arch bridge.

The Wittpenn Bridge, where Mike and his colleagues work, was CGI'd in the background of the scene.

Wittpenn Bridge
Opened in 1930, the Wittpenn Bridge spans the Hackensack River, connecting Jersey City and Kearny.

The original structure is currently being replaced with a modern one to improve safety and facilitate both vehicular and maritime traffic.

Wilson's The Union
The fictional Wilson's pub is actually a bar called Shorty's on 12th Street and Broadway in Bayonne.

The city has also been used as a filming location in top productions such as War of the Worlds, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and A Beautiful Mind.

The Union hotel
Mike wakes up at the The Savoy, a historic hotel located on the Strand, overlooking the River Thames.

Opened in 1889, it was the first luxury hotel in Britain, known for its opulent interiors and famous guests, including royalty and celebrities.

You can stay in one of the Savoy's suites for around USD 700 (540 GBP) per night.

Bay Leaf Cafe
The trio is having coffee at the small Bay Leaf Cafe at 19 Tottenham Street in Fitzrovia.

BT Tower London
The Harry Potter's wand is the BT Tower, the famous 620-foot telecommunications tower.

Completed in 1964, it was originally built as the Post Office Tower and served as a key hub for microwave communications in the UK.

The BT Tower does not house the headquarters of any secret organization, although it once had a revolving restaurant with panoramic views of the city.

The Union bridge
The Union chose a scenic location to train Mike, next to Tower Bridge.

However, this building is not actually located there, it was just CGI'd into the cityscape.

Seven Dials
The next action scene was filmed at the Seven Dials in London's West End, where seven streets converge in the heart of Covent Garden.

The London Grand Hotel

London Grand Hotel
The fictional London Grand Hotel is the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, a stunning Gothic Revival complex adjacent to St. Pancras International Station.

Did you know that this magnificent building was almost demolished in the 1960s? By that time, the Midland Grand Hotel, which opened in 1873, had fallen into disrepair and plans were made to tear it down.

However, a campaign led by poet and architectural historian Sir John Betjeman helped save the building, recognizing its architectural significance.

Madison rooftop bar
The rooftop bar overlooking the dome of St. Paul's Cathedral is Madison Restaurant.

Located on the top floor of the One New Change shopping centre, this spot offers stunning views of the London skyline.

Albert Bridge
The Albert Bridge is a picturesque suspension bridge linking Chelsea and Battersea.

Completed in 1873, the bridge is known for its distinctive, ornate design featuring colorful, decorative details and its delicate, ironwork structure.

Royal Albert Hall and the Albert Memorial
The exterior of the famous Royal Albert Hall and the Albert Memorial are also featured in a short scene.

The Royal Albert Hall, completed in 1871, is a renowned concert venue known for its distinctive circular architecture.

The Albert Memorial, unveiled in 1872 in Kensington Gardens, is a grand Gothic Revival monument honoring Prince Albert's contributions to the arts.

The Union in Istria

Istria The Union
One of the first scenes in Istria, Croatia, was filmed at the old Chapel of St. Agnes, located on a hill in Croatia near the village of Rakalj.

Istria is a quaint peninsula located at the crossroads of Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia, known for its dramatic Adriatic coastline and charming medieval towns.

The region boasts a unique blend of Italian and Slavic influences, evident in its cuisine and architecture.

The Union drehort Kroatien
The beginning of the action sequence was not filmed in Croatia, but in the tiny neighboring country of Slovenia.

The elegant Tartini Square in Piran, named after the famous violinist and composer Giuseppe Tartini, is surrounded by historic buildings, including the Town Hall and the Venetian-style Palazzo.

The church is the Our Lady of Health Church, also located in Piran.

Thanks for making this page! One correction (as far as I am aware) - The bridge you have listed as "The London Bridge" is actually the Tower Bridge. I love that bridge! Look up the real London Bridge- it's completely unremarkable.

The rooftop bar overlooking St Paul’s is Madison restaurant/bar. It’s above a shopping mall.

The two airports where this movie was filmed are Stansted Airport in Essex and Pula Airport in Croatia.
