Set in the early 20th century Killers of the Flower Moon was primarily filmed where it is set, in Oklahoma.
Directed by Martin Scorsese, the nearly three-and-a-half-hour production is based on the 2017 true events reflected in David Grann's book of the same name.

The story centers on the Osage Nation's rise to wealth after the discovery of oil in the 19th century, which is marred by a series of murders. The FBI's uncovering of a conspiracy among local whites called the Reign of Terror, exposes a series of brutal crimes against the tribe.
Leonardo DiCaprio plays World War I veteran Ernest Burkhart, who marries the wealthy Osage woman Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone). Robert De Niro is Ernest's uncle, William King Hale.
Welcome to Fairfax, Oklahoma, and our spoiler-free guide to all the filming locations of Killers of the Flower Moon.
The Killers of the Flower Moon town
The town of Pawhuska, the seat of the Osage Nation, doubles as Fairfax, the real location where most of the story took place.
The train station's facade was designed from the original plans of the one that existed in Fairfax, around the brick structure that remains of a building on the Midland Valley Railroad depot site.
A steam locomotive and three Pullman cars were transported from Arkansas and placed onto a 1,200-foot train track.
The production set up two dilapidated blocks of houses on Kihekah Avenue in Pawhuska, which served as Fairfax's main street.
To evoke the atmosphere of the 1920s in Pawhuska, the streets were covered with dirt, and the storefronts were hidden behind panels that resembled period storefronts.

The McInroy's Billiard Parlor and barbershop were filmed in a general store.
Production designer Jack Fisk discovered that during the 1920s, pool halls and barbershops were often combined in these towns.
The Liberty Café was filmed in an appliance store located next door.

The Drumright Bank, across the street, was housed in an old bank building. The Big Rain Gallery was turned into a dance studio.
The interior of a Pawhuska church was transformed into a courthouse, which may be the First Christian Church at 814 Prudom Avenue.

The Killers of the Flower Moon houses
William Hale's house was a set built on the Hughes Ranch, located outside of Bartlesville in Osage County.
Spanning over 12,000 acres and renewed for its cattle and western heritage, this ranch was actually William Hale's hideaway.

The oil derrick field and a murder scene were also filmed on the grounds of the Hughes Ranch.
Only one oil derrick was built, the rest were added to the scene using CGI.
The production was mostly based in Bartlesville, as some sets were built in a hangar at the city airport.

Mollie Kyle's house was also a set, but according to Dezeen, it was created from scratch in the real Osage settlement town of Gray Horse.
The cemetery was also built on the grounds of this Osage reservation, located about five miles away from Fairfax.

An iconic scene was filmed on the historic First National Bank and Masonic Lodge building in Fairfax.
Constructed in 1906, this real Oklahoma Masonic hall was built on top of the bank in 1924.

Mollie and Ernest's house is located at 144 North 4th Street in Fairfax.
However, the aftermath of the explosive scene was filmed between Hunsaker and Ash Avenues.
The production was designed to be as historically accurate as possible with the locations and details of the sets.

The lawyers building in Fort Worth was actually filmed in the Philtower Building in downtown Tulsa.
Completed in 1928, this 24-story skyscraper combines superb Neo-Gothic and Art Deco architecture, featuring ornate details like gargoyles, pointed arches, and elaborate decorative elements.

The courtroom exterior and the hall were filmed at the Federal Building in Tulsa.
Opened in 1917, this elegant Classical Revival style building is the former United States Post Office and Courthouse.

Carpenter Hall, located on the North Oval on the University of Oklahoma campus in Norman, appears in the black and white footage at the beginning of the movie.
With elements of Collegiate Gothic architecture, this magnificent building was originally constructed in 1922 as a men's dormitory.
