Lindsay Lohan's new festive romantic comedy is a feel-good movie that seems out of the Hallmark Channel.
Set in the fictional town of Summit Springs, Falling For Christmas was entirely filmed in Utah.

George Young plays her Instagramable boyfriend, Tad Fairchild, and Chord Overstreet is Jake Russell, the handsome owner of a family-owned ski lodge.

The Belmont Summit Resort
The Belmont Summit Resort, where some guests seem to spend the entire movie in the rooftop hot tub, is actually the Goldener Hirsch luxury hotel in the vibrant town of Park City, located about 36 miles east of Salt Lake City.
Nestled in the heart of Deer Valley Resort's Silver Lake Village, this European-style complex is considered one of the top ski resorts in North America.
Goldener Hirsch was voted the country's "Best Ski Boutique Hotel" for several years, including 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019.
Sierra's family property is, in real life, a premier small luxury hotel named after the Hotel Goldener Hirsch in Salzburg, Austria.
The resort offers five-star amenities including an acclaimed gourmet restaurant, a conference center, a spa, and a rooftop terrace featuring great views of the valley.
If you'd like to stay here, the price of a standard double room starts at USD$444, up to executive suites costing around USD$1,800 per night.
If you have some spare change, you can also invest in a two or three-bedroom condo for about five to six million dollars.
The scenes at the ski resort were filmed at the Deer Valley Resort, situated near the hotel in the Wasatch mountains.
This is considered a rather family-oriented complex, with the perfect terrain to learn to ski, where snowboarding is banned.

The Falling For Christmas Location
But where is Jake's hotel? According to IMDb, the interior was filmed at the Stein Eriksen Lodge, located very close to Goldener Hirsch in Park City.
However, neither the interior nor the exterior of this luxury resort is anything like the humble, but beautiful Austrian-style North Star Lodge.

The old-style European chateau Blue Boar Inn in Midway served as the North Star Lodge exterior.
Located a short 20-minute drive from Park City, this romantic getaway offers a cozy atmosphere and 12 elegant rooms.
You can book your stay in one of the guestrooms, decorated after famous literary figures, for between US$210 to US$330 per night.

Lonzo Liggins, the actor who plays the mayor of Summit Springs, revealed to our website that the interior of Jake's bed and breakfast was also filmed at the Goldener Hirsch Inn.
This is a Bavarian-inspired section of the Goldener Hirsch resort, located just next to the modern hotel.
By the way, that there is a little reference to the 2021's A Castle for Christmas film starring Brooke Shields, which appears on Sarah's room TV.
The real Summit Springs
Atlas of Wonders has tracked down the location where the scenes in the fictional town of Summit Springs with the clocktower building were filmed.
The Christmas market and the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony scenes were lensed at Solitude Mountain Resort.
Located in the Big Cottonwood Canyon, about thirty miles southeast of Salt Lake City, Solitude is a small resort interconnected with the Brighton ski area.

Also, some establishing shots were recorded at Gardner Village in West Jordan.
This shopping area with restaurants and event venues was built around the historic Gardner flour mill in Salt Lake City.
Utah was also the location for the movie Best Christmas Ever!, set in the fictional town of Hadley Falls.

The movie features lots of aerial establishing shots of picturesque snowed towns that look very different from each other.
This is stock footage from all around the world. We have recognized the Val Gardena valley in the Dolomites, Italy, the Alpine town in Switzerland’s Valais Canton, Verbier, the silhouette of Hayden Peak in Sneffels Range, Colorado, and the Kranjska Gora village in Slovenia.
In this crazy mix, there is even a shot that looks like a Scandinavian town!

Hey guys, my name is Lonzo Liggins I played the mayor in this film. The interior shots for Jake’s bed and breakfast was also shot at the Goldener Hirsch. We filmed them in an older section of the hotel. The hotel was renovated but there’s still a part of the hotel where they left it the same. Many of the outdoor shots of shopping and the Santa scenes were done at Solitude.

I saw skiing scenes filmed at Sundance, Deer Valley, and Solitude, at the very least. The Red Maserati towing a snowmobile is all filmed in Little Cottonwood Canyon, close to Alta Ski resort. I'm pretty sure the proposal scene was about 100 feet from the top of the tram at Snowbird.
