Posted by Ra Moon
Set in the fictional town of Monroeville, New York, Disney's big-budget musical fantasy film is the sequel to the 2007 movie, Enchanted.
Mixing live-action and animation as its predecessor, Disenchanted was primarily filmed in Ireland, with additional location shooting in England and New York.

Amy Adams leads the returning cast as Giselle Philip along with Patrick Dempsey as her husband and divorce lawyer, Robert. James Marsden plays the King of Andalasia, Edward, and Idina Menzel is Nancy Tremaine, the Queen.
Completing the main cast are Maya Rudolph as Malvina Monroe and Gabriella Baldacchino as Morgan, Giselle's teenage stepdaughter.
Welcome to Monroeville, Monrolasia, Andalasia, and our guide to all the filming locations of Disenchanted.
The Disenchanted Locations
Before moving to Monroeville, the Philip family was living at The Paterno edifice near Riverside Park in Morningside Heights, Manhattan.
Completed in 1909, this stunning apartment skyscraper is noted for its curved facade and beautiful marble lobby with a stained-glass ceiling.
Monroeville, New York
The picturesque village of Enniskerry in County Wicklow, located near the famous Powerscourt Estate in Ireland, doubled as Monroeville, NY.
At first, it seems that the fairy-tale version of the town was built in a studio. However, the entire village underwent a special makeover.

A large crew of carpenters, painters and builders transformed Enniskerry Village Square into the big fantasia of Monrolasia.
Between May and August 2021, Disney took over the town by adding handwritten signs, colorful pastel facades, and exuberant flowers and trees.
The facade of the palace where the festival in Monrolasia takes place was partially built in the town's main square.
This building’s clock tower in regular Monroeville that was added via digital effects into the scene, is actually almost identical to the Richmond General Penitentiary one in Grangegorman, Dublin.

The interior ballroom scenes were probably filmed at the studios.
Some more inspirations: as in 2017's Beauty and the Beast (lower picture), the ballroom floor is very similar to the pattern in the ceiling of Braunau in Rohr Abbey in Bavaria, Germany.
The first test screenings of the movie received mixed reactions, so the producers decided to reshoot some scenes in a new location in England.
Hambleden is a small and gorgeous village in Buckinghamshire that was also featured in the Good Omens series and the 2021 movie The dig.

The Disenchanted House
Also, the Disenchanted old pink mansion seems out of a Hollywood studio.
However, this 19th-century detached home, located in the Burnaby area in Greystones, County Wicklow, is as real as the queen.
Featuring a new enchanted-castle style tower, Disney sent the owners to a Dublin hotel during the production, which lasted about four months.

The Monroeville Metro-North station was filmed at Dundalk railway station in County Louth. Opened in 1849, this is one of the most beautiful train stations in Ireland.
In the movie, the next stop of the metro line to Grand Central Station is Poughkeepsie, so Robert's commuting time is higher than one hour and a half.

Malvina Monroe's manor is a CGI composition based on the Morristown Lattin House, a Tudor-Revival 19th-century manor near Naas in County Kildare.

As The University Times reported, the room in Malvina's house from the scene with her minions, Rosaleen and Ruby, was filmed at the 18th-century dining hall at Trinity College in Dublin.

The dragon scene with a tall waterfall in the background was filmed at the famous Powerscourt Waterfall in County Wicklow.
The nearly 400-foot-high cascade is a popular tourist destination along with the mansion and Italian gardens of the Powerscourt Estate.
This powerful waterfall has been featured multiple times in numerous productions including classic films like Excalibur, Willow, and the epic series Vikings.
