Where was Deep Water filmed? The House & the City Location
Posted by Ra Moon
Set in the small fictional Louisiana town of Little Wesley, Deep Water was entirely filmed in New Orleans and surroundings, the same city where the erotic thriller is set.
This is the first movie directed by Adrian Lyne in 20 years since Unfaithful (2002), the creative mind behind great 80s and 90s hits such as 9½ Weeks, Fatal Attraction, and Indecent Proposal.

Ana de Armas and Ben Affleck, who dated for a while after the shoot, star in the film as a dysfunctional married couple, Vic and Melina.
Their relationship is held together only by their cute daughter and a precarious arrangement where, in order to avoid divorce, Melinda gets to sleep with other men.
Welcome to our almost spoiler-free guide to the filming locations of Deep Water.
The movie opens with an establishing shot of the spectacular Crescent City Connection, the iconic twin cantilever bridges over the Mississippi River in New Orleans.
The Deep Water house
The exterior of the Van Allen family's home is the Urbania House at 1365 Constance Street in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans.
Built around the 1830s or 1840s, this four-bedroom and two-bathroom private residence has been used several times as a filming location for various productions including 12 Years a Slave, Hell Baby (both from 2013), and 2011's A Little Bit of Heaven.
However, this property doesn't have a swimming pool, so some of the scenes were filmed somewhere else.

The scene where Vic meets with his friends for lunch is the Vaughan's Lounge, a live music bar established in 1959 located at 4229 Dauphine Street in the Bywater neighborhood.

The first party house, where Melinda invites Joel (played by Brendan C. Miller) and plays Paolo Conte's Via con me on the piano, is located at 1213 Third Street in the 11th Ward.
According to Zillow, this spectacular five-bedroom home designed in 1868, boasting 5,932 square feet (550 m2) of space, has an estimated market value of about $3,200,000.

The scene where Vic finds the private investigator's car was filmed in the area near Dauphine Street and Franklin Avenue.
The old Dixie Beer sign is a classic mural located at 807 Franklin Avenue in the Bywater area of New Orleans.

However, the bar where Vic finds his wife with the PI hired by Don Wilson (played by Tracy Letts), is the Horn’s Eatery, a breakfast restaurant set in a bungalow at 1940 Dauphine Street in the Marigny district.

Vic invites Tony for a ride (played by Finn Wittrock) outside the Barrel Proof rustic bar at 1201 Magazine Street, in the historical Lower Garden District.

Where were the gorge scenes shot? Doesn't look like Louisiana.

I read elsewhere that the water scenes (the gorge) were filmed at Lake Windermere in the UK, although the wooded scenes could easily have been in The Big Woods in Northern Louisiana (I got lost there many years ago).

The Gorge reminds me of the Tunica Hills area north of St. Francisville. An area with trails in the woods along streams.
