The 12 George Hotel & ALL the Inventing Anna House Locations

Posted by

Inventing Anna is a true-crime drama revolving around the real story of fake German heiress Anna Sorokin, also known as Anna Delvey.

At only 26 years old, the con artist was the centerpiece of a big scandal involving big banks, financial advisors, law firms, philanthropists, galleries, art dealers, and half of New York's high society.

Where was Inventing Anna filmed

Based on writer Jessica Pressler’s 2018 New York Magazine article, “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People”, the show is starring Julia Garner, best known for her role as Ruth Langmore in the hit series Ozark.

Inventing Anna features many interesting hotels and locations, including the fictional 12 George Hotel, the Gulacsy Hotel, and the magnificent 281 Park Avenue building.

Here is our almost spoiler-free guide to the filming locations of the series.

Where was Inventing Anna filmed?

The Manhattan Magazine
In the series, Vivian Kent (played by Anna Chlumsky) is a disgraced journalist at the fictional Manhattan Magazine, banished to a far corner of the office nicknamed “Scriberia”.

The exterior of the magazine's headquarters is located in an office tower at 1155 Avenue of the Americas in Midtown.

However, according to Architectural Digest, the interior was filmed on an empty floor of a Fifth Avenue building, turned into the largest set of the show.

Also, many interior sets, including the Vanity Fair office, were created at Steiner Studios at Brooklyn Navy Yard.

The 12 George Hotel

12 George Hotel
The 12 George Hotel where Anna stayed for months at $1,700 per night was, in real life, the 11 Howard 5-star hotel in Lower Manhattan.

But to see the real location where the hotel was filmed, we have to go to the Highline Stages entrance at 441 W 14th Street in NYC's Meatpacking District. The facade of 12 George that appears in the series was CGI'd into the scene.

Highline Stages is an event space, home to a suite of sound stages and creative areas for artists and designers.

12 George
Production designer Henry Dunn revealed that the interiors for the 12 George Hotel, where Anna met hotel’s concierge Neffatari Davis, were inspired by the whimsical designs of Firmdale Hotel founder Kit Kemp.

Kemp's work can be seen at London’s Ham Yard Hotel and Crosby Street Hotel in New York.

Neff, aka the power behind the throne, is played by Alexis Floyd.
