Welcome to Kyopeli: Where was The Lost Daughter filmed?

Often included as one of the Saronic Islands, Spetses is a tiny laid-back island inhabited by about 4,000 souls.

Spetses is located relatively close to Athens in the Peloponnese, near Hydra, the mythical island frequented by Leonard Cohen in the 1960s.

Today, this gorgeous hideaway is not one of those peaceful, unspoiled off-the-beaten-path Greek islands anymore.

To travel to this romantic and jaw-dropping destination where private cars are barred (despite what we see in the film), the best is to arrive by ferry from Athens' Piraeus Port. The trip just takes two hours.

However, there is not much to do there in the offseason because everything is closed, although you will have all the crystal-clear sapphire waters of the island for you.

Spetses hosts the fortified monastery of Saint Nikolaos, a couple of museums, including the Laskarina Bouboulina Museum, dedicated to the famous Greek naval commander and heroine, and many spectacular old mansions.

Kyopeli's beach, actually called Paralia Zogeria (Paralía meaning "beach" in Greek), is located in a beautiful cove with a small restaurant surrounded by dangerous pine trees.

Situated about 6 miles away (10 km) from Spetses town, to get there you have to drive a windy road across the island.

The elegant house featured in The Lost Daughter, with a balcony facing the Myrtoan Sea, is located on Anargirou Street, a bit far from the town center, but in the beach’s direction.

Ciné Titania is a lovely open-air cinema theater managed by the Poseidonion Grand Hotel, in the island's only town.

Originally built in the 60s, this little cinema was recently renovated and today is still in operation.
