Where was You filmed? All the New Season 4 Locations & Madre Linda

Starring Penn Badgley as the creepy sociopath and stalker Joe Goldberg, the hit Netflix series You returns with season four.
This time the action takes place in London. Season one was entirely filmed in New York, and the second season moved to the Los Angeles area in California.

The third season was also filmed in California, set in a soulless, wealthy suburb of San Francisco called Madre Linda.

Season 4 Locations in London
In the first episode, "Joe Takes a Holiday", Joe is a literature professor at the fictional Darcy College in London.
These scenes were filmed at the magnificent Royal Holloway university Founder's Building.

However, the library is the Victorian Lincoln’s Inn Library in Holborn, which was also featured in The Sandman series.

Joe leaves the campus for a walk but actually appears more than 23 miles away, outside the Old Spitalfields Market on Brushfield Street.
He passes by the Commercial Tavern on Commercial Street, also in Spitalfields.
The entrance to his house in South Kensington is located at the picturesque street Kynance Mews, although the interior was shot elsewhere.

Joe tracked down Marienne’s art in the famous Luxembourg Gardens in Paris, near the Medici Fountain.
He finds her at an art show in London filmed at the Oxo Tower courtyard in the South Bank.
The railway station scene was filmed at St. Pancras.

The exterior of the pub that appears in several scenes is The Builders Arms in Kensington.

The Clotho Gallery in the second episode, "Portrait of the Artist", is the Old Billingsgate in the City of London.
Today, this former Victorian fish market is an event venue.
The exhibition takes place at The Vault, the area below the structure that once housed the icy cold store.

The funeral in the third episode, "Eat the Rich", was filmed at St Bartholomew the Great church in Barbican.
This impressive medieval temple has also been featured in many productions including The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Taboo, and Snow White and the Huntsman.

Kate's house is located at 69 Cornwall Gardens in Kensington.

Phoebe's country house, the Downton Abbey vampire castle Hampsbridge House of the fourth episode, "Hampsie", is the superb Knebworth House in Hertfordshire.
The luxurious Tudor-Gothic style manor house with gorgeous gardens is home to the Sonisphere and Knebworth Festivals.

Season 3: Madre Linda
According to Joe, the fictional Madre Linda neighborhood is the safest one in the Golden State.
The results of our sleuthing revealed that very few locations were actually shot outside the studios for season three. The key location is the stunning house where Love and Joe moved at the end of season two.
According to Realtor, this comfortable four-bedroom and 3,300 square feet single-level house has an estimated value of about $1,858,000.
The property, built in 1951, is located at 6301 Orion Avenue in Van Nuys, in an area known as Cameron Woods.
Orion Avenue, which has changed little in 60 years, has been called the most filmed street in the San Fernando Valley, standing in as a vision of Anywhere, U.S.A., in all sorts of productions.
According to the IMDb location notes, this house appeared in a couple of episodes in the 80s popular soap opera Dynasty.
The show also features the Englers' household located next door at 6309 Orion Avenue.
Matthew's lair is a spectacular 4,227 square feet mansion, one of the largest in Cameron Woods, valued at about $2,448,000.
It boasts seven bedrooms, five bathrooms, a pool, a spa, spacious gardens with a patio deck, and a two-car garage.

But what about all the new You season 3 locations? Where is Madre Linda?
It seems that the pandemic was an important factor that prevented the show from being filmed on location, as in the previous seasons.
Season 3 features a lot of stock footage of cute random towns used as establishing shots for the Madre Linda neighborhood created for the series. The aerial view in the last episode is from San Luis Obispo, CA.
Atlas of Wonders has tracked down the location of Love's bakery, A Fresh Tart.
Love is played by Victoria Pedretti, one of the siblings of The Haunting of Hill House.
The facade and the interior were filmed in one of the fake buildings located at the Warner Bros. French Street set in the backlot of the studios in Burbank.

The scenes outside the gym, including the one in the first episode where Love meets Sherry and her friends, were also filmed here in the French European-style street.
The set has several storefronts, a landscaped park, and the original café set where the Gilmore Girls series was filmed.
Dante and Lansing's home is one of the fake houses on the famous Blondie Street also located at the Warner Bros. Studios. This residence is situated almost across the street from the Wandavision house featured in the Marvel show.
Marienne Bellamy (played by Tati Gabrielle, known for her roles in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and The 100 series) meets Joe at the local Madre Linda Library.
The exterior of the building was filmed at South Pasadena Public Library located at 1100 Oxley Street.
Built in 1907 and expanded in 1930 and 1982, the library's facade ornamented with Greek mythological elements that appear in the series is located at 1115 El Centro Street.

However, the library's interior is a detailed set built at the studios.
The Iamnotastalker.com website wrote a report in 2018 reporting that the South Pasadena Public Library has been featured in many TV shows filmed in Los Angeles, including The Mentalist, The Ugly Truth, Brothers and Sisters, Modern Family, and Perception.
The fictional Glasell's Market that appears in the first and the second episode (the scenes where Joe is stalking Natalie and Love meets Theo respectively), was filmed in a store located at The Vineyards at Porter Ranch shopping mall.

The fictional Casa Gaia Vineyard from episode six, "W.O.M.B.", was filmed at Calamigos Guest Ranch and Beach Club with some winery-looking props.
This luxury private 250-acre ranch located in the Malibu Wine Country can be hired for wedding ceremonies and corporate events.
The vineyards in the background were CGI'd into the scene on an existing hill.

As in the previous season, there are a lot of flashbacks set during Joe's childhood set at the New York State's Irving Group Home For Boys.
The exteriors were filmed at the Mary Andrews Clark Memorial Home, a Châteauesque-style building constructed in 1913 as a YWCA home for young working women.
Today, the structure located in the Westlake North neighborhood of Los Angeles is a registered historic monument used as housing for low-income single workers.

The final scene on a busy street in Paris was also recorded at the Warner Bros. Studios thanks to a little CGI help. The sequence was shot in a permanent exterior set called Hennessy Street.
Constructed in the 1930s, but extensively rebuilt in 1981, this set has been featured in tons of movies and TV shows.
