Where Was You Had Me at Aloha Filmed? The Hotel Resort, the Waterfall and all the Locations

Hawaii is the perfect place to shoot a romantic comedy because according to actress Pascale Hutton, who plays Paige, this is the most beautiful place on Earth.

The filmmakers were able to highlight a magnificent hotel resort and different superb filming locations on the island of Oahu, which is where You Had Me at Aloha was entirely filmed.

Kavan Smith, who is co-starring the movie as Ben, commented in a production video that in this project he and Hutton had the chance to choose what they wanted to do. "After getting jealous over a friend filming a movie in Fiji", the actors decided to have fun creating a story set against a gorgeous backdrop in Hawaii.

In the movie, Paige and Ben are exploring the island recording a show for a travel network. The duo is constantly clashing over their opposing ideas for production, but eventually, they also discover that need each other not only to further their careers but also to balance their lives on and off the screen.

The hotel featured in the movie is the ocean-front Kahala Hotel and Resort, located on a private beach just outside Honolulu.

Many scenes, including the gorgeous Maohi Nui Polynesian dancers sequence, were filmed here on location.

One of the highlights of the Kahala is the private lagoon where you can swim with dolphins. This luxury resort also boasts four high-end restaurants, a full-service spa, and a temperature-controlled pool.

You Had Me at Aloha beach
According to Booking.com, you can enjoy a standard room with an ensuite bathroom and ocean view for about US$650. Suites are available for US$2,100.

During its 50-year history, this legendary hotel has attracted countless film and television stars and celebrities including Queen Elizabeth, President Barack Obama, Angelina Jolie, Justin Timberlake and many more.


You Had Me at Aloha waterfall
The waterfall scene was filmed at Waimea Falls, located on the north shore of the island. According to Reel News Hawaii, the farmers market scene was also filmed here at Waimea Valley.

This magnificent spot in the middle of the Jungle, surrounded by a beautiful botanical garden, has been featured in many productions including the CBS series Magnum PI and both parts of the new Jumanji movies.

Filming at Kualoa Ranch
Almost all the productions filmed on the island feature scenes recorded at the famed Kualoa Ranch. This is one of the most popular filming locations in the world!

The zipline scene was also filmed here. The treetop canopy zipline has seven tandem sections and two suspension bridges.

Since the 1970s, this private nature reserve occupying 4000 acres of wonderful land has played host to plenty of renowned TV series and films, including all the Jurassic movies, several King Kong-themed films, and the Lost series.

It was easy to recognize the location of the scene with the goats, also featured in The Wrong Missy and Triple Frontier. This cottage is situated close to Kualoa, near the Tropical Farms Macadamia Nuts store in Kailua.

The cast at the Hawaiian party
Canadian actress Pascale Hutton is better known for her role as Rosemary LeVeaux Coulter in Hallmark's series When Calls the Heart. She also has starred in a number of Hallmark Channel movies including The Perfect Bride, My One and Only, and Summer of Dreams.

The chemistry between the two actors is terrific as Kavan Smith plays a prominent role in When Calls the Heart. In the series, they also fall in love with each other. In addition, Smith is known for her roles on series like The CW's Smallville and Supernatural, and SyFy’s Sanctuary and Battlestar Galactica.

The cast is completed by Jennifer Asplund as Millie, Valen Ahlo as Luis, Marysa Carr as Leimomi, Brad Kalilimoku as Kekoa, and Sebastian Siegal as Todd.
