His house is an indie horror movie, bringing a modern point of view to the haunted house genre.
Rial (Wunmi Mosaku, who starred in Luther and played Ruby in Lovecraft Country) and Bol (Sope Dirisu from His Dark Materials and Gangs of London series) are two South Sudan refugees who arrive in the United Kingdom after a traumatic boat trip. The scars of the violence in their home country seem to follow them in their new home.

After staying in a detention center, the couple is assigned a dodgy house in an unfriendly estate. They have to live there until the legal situation of the two newcomers is addressed to avoid deportation.
His House was filmed in England and Morocco. But where is the dreary town where Rial and Bol arrived after a long drive across the country?

The town is a borough of Thurrock on the north bank of the River Thames, containing a major deep-water port.
There's also a 16th-century fort that was used as a filming location for the BBC series Taboo and the 2017 DC universe movie Wonder Woman.

The terraced house is located in Adelaide Road, a neighborhood situated around Koala Park - Are the Australian-themed names a hint? Would the residents like to be on the other side of the world, far away from here? Is it so bad?
According to iLiveHere, Tilbury is the country’s biggest dead-end town, but it didn't make it to the 10 top worst places to live in England list.

Writer and film director Remi Weekes said in this interview with Esquire that the hedge maze in The Shining was the inspiration for the sequence when Rial walks through the council houses with endless alleyways, looking for the medical practice.
The interiors of the house were recreated on a set at West London Film Studios.
The scenes in Africa were shot in Morocco. This is not confirmed, but most of the productions filmed in Morocco are usually based in the Cinema Studio Atlas in Ouarzazate, located in an ideal area between the mountains and the Sahara desert.
