Posted by Ra Moon
Netflix’s graphic novel movie adaptation The Old Guard is based on the comic books by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez, first published in 2017.
The plot revolves around an enigmatic team of secret immortal warriors whose real origins are unknown. According to one of them, this group of brothers in arms is the good or the bad guys depending on the century.
The eternal members of this selected club are experienced globetrotters, but in this movie, we will see them only in Morocco, South Sudan, Afghanistan, France, and the United Kingdom. However, The Old Guard was entirely filmed in England and Morocco.

The studio work was hosted at Shepperton Studios in Surrey, quite close to the location where the house of the mercenaries was shot.
The film, produced by Skydance Film (the same producers who created top action movies like 6 Underground, Top Gun Maverick, or the Mission Impossible film series just to name a few), is starring Charlize Theron as Andy or Andromache of Scythia and KiKi Layne as the marine Nile Freeman.
Welcome to our comprehensive guide to the filming locations of The Old Guard.
The opening scenes in Morocco, where the team meets in El Fenn hotel, were shot in Marrakesh.
The bustling market square is the iconic Jemaa el-Fnaa, situated in the heart of the old medina quarter. The scenes in South Sudan and Afghanistan were also shot in the country.
This is not confirmed, but usually, all the big international movies use the Atlas Studios near Ouarzazate when they require a Middle East setting.
The complex has plenty of sets located in a western section of the Sahara desert. Top productions like Vikings, Game of Thrones, or Prison Break were also recorded here.
The exterior of the Merrick pharma company is a skyscraper located at 6 New Street Square in Holborn near the Maughan Library in London, one of the Enola Holmes filming locations.
The Merrick's penthouse apartment on the top was CGI'd into the building.

In the film, Charlie's safe house is a disused church in the French town of Goussainville. It has been abandoned for 50 years because the Paris-Charles De Gaulle airport is too close.
The Old Guard home is actually the All Saint's Church in Shirburn, near Watlington in Oxfordshire.
As you can check out in the picture, the tower of the Norman temple was altered via CGI to look a bit taller.

The fight scene was also filmed inside the church. However, the rooms in the crypt probably are a set built at Shepperton Studios.
The scenes of Andy in the past fighting with the immortal who died, Lykon, were shot at Bourne Woods, a scenic forest located near the studios.

The short scene where Andy and Quynh (Veronica Ngo) are hanged for witchcraft in the Middle Ages is the Shirburn Castle.
The church is part of the castle's complex. The old seat of the Earls of Macclesfield is a 14th-century quadrangular medieval fortress surrounded by a moat.
This historical landmark was the Midsomer Priory for the Midsomer Murders show and Mycroft Holmes's country estate in Guy Ritchie's 2011 movie Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.

According to local media, the pharmacy in a city in Val d'Argent was shot in an English village called Sandwich in Kent.
The film crew dressed exteriors of store windows in Market St to look like a French town.

Copley's modern house is The Homewood in Esher, Surrey.
This is an early 20th-century country villa designed by architect Patrick Gwynneat, heavily influenced by the work of modernist architects Le Corbusier and Mies van der Rohe.
The estate, owned by the National Trust, is currently closed and hopes to reopen again next year for pre-booked visits.

The bar where the mercenaries have to make a decision about Booker is the Prospect of Whitby.
This historic pub is located on the banks of the Thames in St Katharine's and Wapping, London.
The main cast is completed by Matthias Schoenaerts as Booker or Sebastian Le Livre, Marwan Kenzari as Joe or Yusuf Al-Kaysani and Luca Marinelli as Nicky or Nicolo di Genova.
