A golden age of heroes had protected the world for decades. However, this era ended ten years ago, and now it's time for the young superheroine Stargirl to take over and save the world from the clutches of evil Injustice Society.
The show, which has nothing to do with Disney's Stargirl film, occurs in the DC Universe. The CW series is set in Nebraska's fictional town of Blue Valley, although no filming took place in the Cornhusker State.

Brec Bassinger, who is not related to the 80's blonde star Kim Basinger, plays the powerful teenager Courtney Whitmore. Luke Wilson is her stepfather Pat Dugan/S.T.R.I.P.E.
The Stargirl series was filmed in several towns in Georgia, including Atlanta, Dallas, Douglasville, and Marietta.

The first scenes are set in Los Angeles. Pat is driving the classic red and white car by the beautiful Griffith Observatory.
Obviously, there are a lot of special effects in the Justice Society of America mansion fight scene.
The Blue Valley town in Nebraska
10 years later, the Dugan family moves to Nebraska, the birthplace of Nick Nolte, Fred Astaire, the great warrior Crazy Horse and baseball third baseman Wade Boggs
The song playing during the journey to the new town is Young Blood by the New Zealanders Naked and Famous.
Blue Valley, Nebraska, is the town where everyone waves at you. The real Stargirl city location, where a lot of filming took place, is Dallas, Georgia.
The Richie Rock Diner, where Pat and Barbara met, was an old antique shop at 212 Main St, next door to the Dallas Cinema Theater, that kept his real name for the shoot.

The American Dream building is the historic old Courthouse Gallery in Dallas downtown.

The workshop where Pat meets Crusher is located at 300 W Memorial Dr in Dallas.
The main cast is completed by Yvette Monreal as Yolanda Montez/Wildcat, Anjelika Washington as Beth Chapel/Doctor Mid-Nite, and Cameron Gellman as Rick Tyler / Hourman.

The Blue Valley High School is the Booker T. Washington High School in Ashview Heights, Atlanta.
However, the football field for the homecoming game and the season one finale is at Douglas County High School in Douglasville.

But where is Courtney's family's lovely house?
One of our readers sent us pictures of a set built for a TV show in the early 80's on the Warner Bros Studio, where there is a house quite similar to the Whitmore home. Could be the house a make over of the old set?

ReplyDeleteThe very first scene was filmed in Hamilton, ON, Canada when Pat is driving to the mansion where the big fight is happening. He drives down Summers Lane, then up Main Street, then down King under the bridge that connects the Hamilton Art Gallery to Jackson Square.
