The English Game Netflix series, based on true events, takes you to the cradle of football during the Victorian age.
The plot is a story of class conflict and the formation of pioneer teams Blackburn Rovers FC and Darwen FC, founders of the Football League.

From the creator of Downton Abbey, this six-part period drama is starring Edward Holcroft (the Kingsman film series) as Arthur Kinnaird, Kevin Guthrie (Dunkirk, Sunshine on Leith) as Fergus Suter, and Charlotte Hope (evil Myranda from Game of Thrones) as Margaret Alma Kinnaird.
The set in 1879, The English Game was filmed at several Yorkshire, Lancashire, and Greater Manchester locations.

The UNESCO World Heritage village of Saltaire in Shipley (Bradford), is the perfect backdrop for the scenes set in the Victorian era factories.
The Salts Mill complex hosted the production for two weeks. Victoria Road doubled as the streets of the town of Darwen in Lancashire.
The Bradford City Hall and the historic merchants' district of Little Germany are also featured in the series.

The large Georgian country house featured in The English Game is the Broughton Hall, located in the North Yorkshire village of the same name.
This 16th-century manor, featuring 3,000 acres of countryside gardens and a glasshouse, is the same filming location used for the 1992 movie Wuthering Heights with Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche.

The crucial clash between the mill workers of Blackburn and the Old Etonians in the 1883 final took place at the Kennington Oval in south London.
In the series, it was filmed in Stamford Park in Altrincham, near Manchester.
The Bolton News reports that the production also used the football pitches of Stoneclough FC, near Bolton.

According to The Yorkshire Post, the train scenes were shot in the vintage Keighley Station, a section of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway heritage line.
This is also one of the locations where The Jetty was filmed.

Eton College in Berkshire, home of the Old Etonians, also appears in the series, although it is believed that only exterior shots were filmed there.
