Where is The I-Land filmed? The location of the beach and the island of the Netflix series

The I-Land is Netflix sci-fi adventure series that combines elements of Lost and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay movies.

This survival story revolves around ten strangers who wake up on a mysterious island with no memory. They soon discover that they are trapped in a world where nothing is what it seems.

The cast is headed by Natalie Martinez (Kingdom, The Crossing), Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns, The Domestics), Alex Pettyfer (Stormbreaker, Magic Mike), Kyle Schmid (Six, Being Human), and Ronald Peet (First Reformed).

The I-Land was entirely filmed in the Dominican Republic. The Caribbean nation is promoting itself as a filming location destination. The country offers a cash rebate scheme for productions shooting on the island.

The Dominican Republic also hosts a new Pinewood Studios complex, featuring one the most advanced water-filming facilities in the world.

In the Samaná Peninsula are located some of the most secluded and dazzling beaches in the Dominican Republic.

The area, isolated from the rest of the country by the dense jungle, has impressive unspoiled beaches like the undeveloped Playa Lanza del Norte near El Limón.

The Lanza del Norte beach, a key filming location in The I-Land series, is not even marked on Google Maps.

This hidden paradise of virgin tropical forest and endless blue-green waters is located north of the Bay of Samaná.

The area was a pirate hideout during the 17th century.

The three-story buildings resort in the middle of nowhere is the Hotel Barceló Capella in Juan Dolio, located directly on the beach of Villas del Mar.

The Texas Correctional complex is the Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios, situated on the southern coast of the island of Hispaniola (La Española).

The production was also using the awesome Horizon Water Tank facility at Pinewood Studios.

The plot of The I-Land shares some ideas with Plymouth Island from the Serenity movie.
